Breakfast Casserole for Easter (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 6 big eggs
02 - 2 cups milk
03 - ½ teaspoon salt
04 - ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
05 - 1 pound cooked and broken up sausage (or ham)
06 - 4 cups stale bread chunks (French or Italian works great)
07 - 1½ cups grated cheddar cheese
08 - ½ cup sliced green onions (if you want)
09 - ½ cup chopped bell peppers (if you want)

# Instructions:

01 - Get your oven hot at 350°F (175°C).
02 - Beat eggs with milk, salt, and pepper in a big bowl until everything's mixed well.
03 - Oil up a 9×13-inch baking dish so nothing sticks to it.
04 - Put bread chunks across the bottom of the dish. Add your cooked sausage (or ham), sprinkle cheese, green onions, and bell peppers on top if you're using them.
05 - Dump the egg mix over everything and push down gently so the bread soaks up the liquid.
06 - Wrap the dish with foil and stick it in the oven for 25 minutes.
07 - Take off the foil and cook another 10 minutes until eggs aren't runny and the top looks golden.
08 - Let it sit for 5 minutes before you cut it up and dig in.

# Notes:

01 - You can put this together the night before and keep it in the fridge. Just cook it a bit longer (5-10 more minutes) if it's cold when you start.
02 - Stale bread works better than fresh since it won't turn mushy when it soaks up the eggs.
